South Dakota Private Investigator • Civil Process Server • Litigation Support

Private Investigators do more than covert surveillance.

Private investigators track down people, valuable assets, and evidence. They use tech skills and information know-how to regularly access online public records and private databases. Common jobs include pre-employment background checks, tenant screening, and skip tracing, a process to locate someone’s current whereabouts.

Investigators write reports and do bookkeeping, but it’s not all a desk job. P.I.'s need to be comfortable approaching people. Investigators might be hired to interview witnesses, take photos or video, or work as process servers to deliver summons or other legal papers.

Hiring an unethical private investigator can have serious legal repercussions. Private investigators must abide by laws and regulations that regulate their activity; any violation of these rules may lead to legal issues, with evidence obtained illegally not admissible in court.

As a Private Investigator with 27 years of law enforcement experience, I pride myself with the fact that I work at a high ethical level and have a track record to prove it. If you find yourself in the need of a Private Investigator, please choose Civil Solutions LLC. I will work ethically, professionally, and tirelessly for you to find facts.

PRIVATE INVESTIGATION PROCESS

How do private investigators find evidence?

Private investigators find evidence through various means, such as; knocking on doors, interviewing witnesses, doing neighborhood canvassing, and surveillance. Some potential witnesses may have already spoken to law enforcement, but a Private Investigator's job is to dig up more information.

About 25% of Private Investigators in the U.S. are self-employed (like me). About 25% work for other larger investigation firms and about 50% are employed by financial institutions, insurance companies, collection agencies, and other professional organizations.

Regardless of who a P.I. works for, a Private Investigator essentially is a person that gets paid to gather facts and obtain evidence as it is presented to them during the course of an investigation. A P.I. is a finder of facts.

Private Investigators do not have the powers of law enforcement. We cannot arrest anybody nor can we convict anybody. We also cannot commit any crimes while conducting our investigations. We may, however, use the assistance of law enforcement for a "civil assist."

Private Investigators are most commonly hired to: provide evidence of infidelity, identify the location of stolen property, conduct surveillance, find information leading to a business partner's dishonesty, and locate missing persons.

Private Investigators also get involved in criminal investigations, accident, investigations, scene evaluations, and other investigations of variety types.

In a nutshell, we are finders of the facts. We present the facts as they are discovered during our investigations.
